Howdy,
What a freakin' weekend! I wish I was using that opening sentence to describe some hard hitting wrestling action. As we all know at this point, that isn't the case. So you guys know, we have not given up on Rochester. Perhaps one of the most aggravating things about the City forcing us to cancel was the fact that between me notifying reserved ticket holders on the net, the American Legion and our rep that had the not so lovely duty of informing the people that the show was indeed cancelled, we estimate we turned away between 90 to 150 people. In short, it would have been a successful show.
In this however, there is only one person to blame...and that is me. While I can assure you all that in my 17 plus years of involvement in wrestling I have never come across anything like the bylaw that requires permitting of pro wrestling in the City of Rochester, it is my duty and responsibility to check into these things. The fact is, no matter how anomalous the law may be, it is a law in a town Front Row Wrestling was running. We all learn early on in school that ignorance of the law is offers no exception. It was my charge to find out about any such law, no matter how odd or exceptional, and I apologize to you and the City of Rochester wholeheartedly. It’s my fault, not theirs. I may not agree with the law, but I have to follow it.
Onto "saving the town", as it were. We have a return date of booked in the town in March. We did this before this weekend's glitch. I am petitioning the town for the permit in question and am hopeful they will grant it. It will probably be a couple of weeks before we know as the measure has to be voted on by the town. As a favor to us all, I ask that you guys stay out of this for now. Please do not deluge the Town of Rochester as to the status of the permit as I believe it will only serve to annoy them, and annoyed public servants are rarely favorable. Should they shoot it down, it will be time to punt and determine what our next step is. I am at this point however on a personal mission to run the seacoast area and if I have to I will find some alternate venue in the area outside of Rochester.
Keep the faith and thanks for the support!
