Well, as much as I'm sure every prmoter wishes he could run whenever and wherever he would like, there are a great deal of factors that play out before a wrestling event can even be SCHEDULED, nevermind before it can actually happen.
In a lot of cases, promoters lose money on shows they promote. It costs a lot of money to put on a show. There are bulding fees, janitor fees, wrestlers to pay, a police officer to pay, legal documents that need to be procured and signed. Sometimes just finding a hall that is willing to have a wrestling show put on there is more difficult than anything else.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm sure FRW wishes they could run more often. However there are a lot of factors that go into putting on a wrestling show, so maybe things are beyond their control.

I'm pretty sure that both of us who posted initially are aware of these things (at least I am. I can't speak for the person who started the thread). However, it doesn't change the fact that it would still be nice if Mav could do so.

Our eventual goal is to run between 16 to 20 shows a year, some of which (hopefully) would be some "sold" shows in the summer for the sake of our financial health. Claremont will be a hall we run probably 2-3 times a year. Rochester, we were looking at an every 8 week schedule (roughly) but considering the turn out/response, we may look to go every 6 weeks with a short run next year from December to April (traditionally, these are the best drawing months for wrestling) on a monthly basis if everything remains strong (that's why it was such a shame the first one got canned in January, because we probably would have attempted to squeeze in 3 shows in Rochester by the end of April this year Beyond that, we have the Four Star Catering Hall in Rindge that we will run probably 2-3 times a year as well and we are considering a few once a year halls in various locations.

That sounds like a very solid game plan.

Well how is it that the "other" promotion was able to run a show atleast once every two weeks?

Well how is it that the "other" promotion was able to run a show atleast once every two weeks? 1) I assume you are speaking of the WFA. I don't think Euphemistic language is needed on this subject. 2) WFA is not running shows anymore. An arguement can be made that one of the problems the contributed to their current status is that they ran too much. There are other factors of course, but that may be one of them. We are also just starting to see a return on about 1 1/2 years of investment. Better a slow build than a fiery crash, my friend. I appreciate your passion on the subject, but the fact is, members of this board (and the old WFA board) probably only make up 5 to 15 percent of a crowd. If you have a crowd of 100 people, that means only 5 to 15 of you are at a show. Again, your passion for local wrestling will drive you to attend local shows as much as possilbe. The truth of the matter, however, is that most of the crowd is a LOT more transient than that. Spacing the shows out makes it seems more special, and will hopefully keep the crowds coming.
