Officials at Front Row Wrestling believe that over the past 20 years in pro wrestling, the actual rules involved in the sport have been overlooked far too many times, and have become nebulous, at best. In an effort to bring more respect to what we do, FRW has decided to publish it’s basic rules. It is FRW’s intention to enforce these rules as strictly as possible.
A) RULES APPLICABLE TO ALL MATCHES
1) Striking with the open hand (chopping), the forearm (fore arm smash), the elbow, the knee and the bottom (sole) of the foot (also know as stomping) is considered legal. Any other form of striking an opponent, i.e. punching and/or kicking is considered illegal, and the referee may disqualify the offending wrestler for repeated offenses.
2) Any form of strangle or choke hold is considered illegal. Failure to break by the count 5 will result in immediate disqualification of the offending wrestler. Repeated offenses of choking may result in disqualification at the referee’s discretion.
3) Fish hooking of a facial feature and/or eye gouging and/or poking is considered illegal. Repeated offenses of these rules may result in disqualification at the referee’s discretion.
4) Use of any type of foreign object is subjects the offending wrestler to immediate disqualification.
5) A wrestler trapped in a pin or submission hold may touch the ropes with any part of their body, causing a clean break of action. Wrestlers not releasing a submission hold in this circumstances will have until the count of five; if the hold is not broken prior to the count of five, the referee has two options; either immediately disqualify the offending wrestler or admonish him and restart a five count. If the hold is not broken upon the second count of five, the offending wrestler is immediately disqualified. During pinning combinations, a wrestler may escape by using the ropes an unlimited amount of times. Only 5 rope breaks are allowed in the case of submission holds, however. If the “trapped” wrestler has had 5 rope breaks for sub mission holds, a referee shall disregard any further attempts at a clean break by using the ropes. The trapped wrestler at this point will either have to find a way to break the hold unassisted by the ropes or submit.
6) If during the course of action during a match a wrestler should go outside the ring by his own volition or other wise, that wrestler has until the uninterrupted count of 10. If the wrestler does not return by the 10 count, the wrestler will be considered counted out and forfeit the match. Wrestling and/or fighting outside of the ring is strictly prohibited and will be grounds for disqualification at the referee’s discretion.
7) Outside interference from a second or manager is illegal and the guilty parties will be subject to immediate disqualification.
8) Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES shall a wrestler or wrestlers intentionally strike a referee. This action will cause an automatic disqualification of the guilty parties. Furthermore, the guilty parties will be assessed fines and possible suspension.
B) RULES SPECIFIC TO TAG TEAM WRESTLING
1) During tag team matches, wrestlers have FIVE SECONDS between the point of tagging their partner to exit the ring. Repeated offenses of this rule exposes the guilty parties to possible disqualification.
2) Tag Team competitors not in the ring are required to stand in opposing corners and not participate in the match until tagged in. A tag is only considered legal if seen by the referee and if the non-participating member is in contact with the top turn buckle with one hand. Repeated violations of these items may result in a disqualification at the referee’s discretion.
C) RULE(S) SPECIFIC TO THE FRONT ROW WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP*
1) As Front Row Wrestling considers the FRW Championship it’s “Crown Jewel” and the main reason for all competitive matches under it‘s banner, it is our mission to protect the prestige and legitimacy of this title at all times. As such, there shall be two referees assigned to all FRW Championship title bouts. One referee (here fore known as the lead referee) shall operate in the ring, while the second referee shall be on the floor. The lead referee shall be considered the ultimate authority during the match, but may call on the second referee for aid at his discretion. In the event of an in-ring injury to the lead referee, the floor referee will take over.
*Note: this rule is not applicable towards the Granite State Title. Granite State Title Bouts will only require one referee.
